Designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, Bath is undeniably one of England's most beautiful tourist destinations. Home to some of Europe's finest architecture in the Royal Crescent, Circus and Pulteney Bridge, the City showcases its Roman and Georgian heritage at every turn. With its exquisite 15th century Abbey and the world renowned Roman Baths which sit atop Britain's only naturally thermal waters, the City of Bath has cast its spell on visitors for hundreds of years.
The city centre is a shoppers' delight and plays hosts to musical, literary and culinary festivals throughout the year. The Theatre Royal, one of Britain's oldest theatres, has a fantastic programme of high quality drama and other entertainment, providing a relaxing way to see top performances on their way to and from London's West End. The annual calendar includes a regular summer season hosted by eminent director Peter Hall. For two weeks at the end of November each year the renowned and atmospheric Bath Christmas Market fills the lanes around the Abbey.
The "seven hills of Bath" are surrounded by peaceful countryside and waterways. Fantastic walking territory, there are chocolate box villages, ancient market towns, historic monuments and gardens, and excellent pub food & ales on offer, all within a comfortable drive from Wee Grange. Garden lovers will not want to miss the National Trust's Stourhead House and Garden, Westonbirt Arboretum or the Peto Garden at Iford Manor, an award winning, Grade 1 Italianite garden.
Not too much further east and you are in Wiltshire, with its rolling natural landscape, chalk hillside engravings and romantic villages. Nestled amongst them, and only 15 minutes drive from Wee Grange is the busy and historic market town of Bradford-on-Avon, with its ancient bridge, and old weavers' cottages and cloth mills.
Stonehenge, another famous and ancient world heritage site is a little over an hour away by car, making Wee Grange a perfect base for your exploration of this unique and charming part of the West Country.
